Abstract: this design is to build a smart charger using Texas Instruments’ MSP430F149 microcontroller. The smart charger send charging current, battery voltage and temperature signal at certain charging state to the microcontroller’s A/D interface for conversion via sampling circuit. The microcontroller then change the duty cycle of the PWM pulse input wave of chopper controller’s buck circuit based on fuzzy control charging algorithm, realizing smart control of charging process. The system also includes display circuit, keyboard circuit and alarm circuit for the input of charging parameters, and prompts charging state via LCD display and sound/light alarm. This smart charger utilizes fuzzy algorithm for smart control, showing digitalization, intelligence, universalization, and low-power features.
